6 easy homemade detox drinks to improve gut health, to help flush out toxins from the body, to helps in reducing inflammation, helps in weight loss and overall better gut health.
Everyone’s body is different but still same on a great level. Until and unless you have some kind of disease where your doctor recommends not to take any of these detox drinks, these 6 drinks seem to have lot of benefits in order to lose weight and improve gut health.
Note: Do not eat heavy food when you do the detox.
How I take it: I dedicate one day in a week for detox. Where I get my 1 litre of detox drink ready in the morning and and finish it maximum by 12 in the after noon. I don’t eat anything extremely solid the whole day, making sure my stomach gets to rest more than the other days. I would recommend making 1 litre detox drink in a glass jar because glass bottles/jars are chemical free so the taste and smell doesn’t change.
Chia seed with lemon or black salt: Some people believe that chia seeds need to be soaked over night and some say 1-2 hours are enough. Personally I have always soaked them for 2 hours in hot water and mixed it with either lemon or black salt while drinking it. It tastes good with both. 1 to 1.5 table spoon chia seed is enough per day for an adult to improve the gut health.
Make sure you drink a lot of water after having chia seed because it has the tendency of absorbing the water. So if you don’t drink a lot of water, it will absorb the existing water of your body, which will have an opposite effect than you desire. Chia seed is high in fibre which clears constipation and gives you a healthy gut, but drinking less water after having chia seed might create constipation. That’s why it is important to soak it as much as possible so it absorb as much water possible before you drink it.
Cucumber, mint leaves and lemon: I mixed coriander (aka cilantro) as well sometimes when I didn’t have mint leaves. It works very well with both. Slices of half a cucumber, slices of one lemon and some mint leaves. Put it in one litre of room temperature water over night. Use this one litre of detox water next day instead of normal water until you finish it. Gives a lot of coolness to the stomach.

Aloe Vera with lemon and ginger: Here is the precaution first. It is not recommended if you have active piles or fisher issue. Below 30ml per day is recommended for an adult. I personally take 15ml Aloe Vera juice (not gel) mix it will lemon and little bit of ginger. It has a lot of benefits more than just gut health. Reduces newly developing wrinkles, supports hair growth and of course clears constipation.
How to make Aloe Vera Juice: Take out the gel from the real Aloe Vera plant stem, then soak it for 15-20 minutes in the water. Then put it in the blender with little bit of water and ginger and squeeze a lemon and blend it. Strain the mixture and drink just the juice. It is highly beneficial for your skin as well. Apple, Cinnamon and Ginger: Another easy homemade detox drink to improve gut health is the mix of Apple, Cinnamon and ginger. This one also needs to be kept over night. Cut an apple in slices and put it in one litre of water with few cinnamon sticks (Powder not recommended) and some ginger. Keep it over night and use the next morning until finished.
Lemon, mint, ginger: You can make this one 2 hours before. Put slices of a lemon in one litre of room temperature water with few mint leaves and some ginger. Vey refreshing just like the Cucumber, mint leaves and ginger one.
Sweet lime, rose petals and fennel: This mixture is extremely refreshing. It needs to be made a night before in room temperature water. Tanginess of Sweet lime (Mausambi) and sweetness of fennel (Sauf) makes it nice in mixture of taste, plus rose petals may benefit your skin health, eye health, menstrual cramps, of course digestion and hair health as well. Have you eve wondered why we Indians eat fennel seeds after finishing a meal? Of course it gives you good breath, but more than that, it helps in digestion by relaxing the muscles in gastrointestinal system.
